The Omega Seamaster 200m Pre Bond was introduced in 1988 and was first weared by IFREMER -a French marine science research institute - during a deep sea mission. In 1993 the Bond Seamaster 300 first debuted and the present reference would be soon discontinued.
The Pre Bond Seamaster Professional 200m was produced in both mid-size and full size, housed Quartz or Automatic movement and in gold/steel variations. The present watch is a full size 39mm case in stainless steel and houses the automatic calibre 1111, one of the most desired variations. It’s one of the early examples produced, featuring Mk1 Mercedes hands, lobed crown and single-folded deployant clasp bracelet. Speaking about the bracelet, it’s surprisingly comfortable on the wrist and it’s solid and robust. The steel case blends smoothly into the integrated bracelet, a 1980s hallmark.
Last but not least, condition. This vintage diver is preserved in near NOS condition and appears almost never worn. Furthermore, the tritium has aged in a shade of brown giving the watch a unique appeal.
We do think this Seamaster 200m deserves attention of its own, regardless of the nickname ‘Pre Bond’ it received later. The present timepiece is perfect choice for collectors and enthusiasts diving watches from the 1980s. Discover all the Divers and Omega Watches available in the Shop.
